Fact: Transportation services are available on Long Island; seeing a health care professional is an investment in your future.
Myth: “I’m not taking medications right now and I feel ok, so I don’t need to see a doctor.”
Fact: Regular medical visits are important so that your health care provider can monitor your bloodwork and address changes in your health.
Myth: “I had a bad experience at my last doctor’s visit. I dont want to go back.”
Fact: Most doctors act professionally and are anxious to help. We’ll tell you about local health care professionals who are used to dealing with HIV.
Myth: “There’s no privacy on Long Island. I’m better off getting my care in New York City or somewhere else.”
Fact: There are some great doctors on Long Island. Medical offices operate under strict privacy guidelines and New York’s HIV confidentiality laws provide an extra layer of protection. Having a doctor close to your home that you could get to if you got sick is important.
